Confirm your status as the SWC SUP Champion of Champions at the 2014 Surftech SUP Winter Classic. The SUP Champion of Champions is open to all competitors with one prize allocated across all divisions. Merit points are allocated to each competitor for every event they enter.  The higher you place and the bigger the field for each event, the more points you gain. At the end of the two days of competition, the competitor with the most accumulated points takes home the prize. The SUP-X event attracts double points.

SUP Champion of Champions event details

Points will be awarded to the divisional placings for each event. The events that accumulate points are;

  • 10 km Downwind
  • 6 km flatwater
  • 1.5 km flatwater
  • SUP-X (double points)

The status of the SUP Champion of Champions merit points will be published at the end of each event and the winner announced at the end of the competition.

Who can enter the event?

The event is open to each of the age divisions. You compete in your normal age and gender division categories but the merit points are calculated depending on where you finish in your division for that event. The most merit points are awarded to the highest placegetters in the divisions with the biggest fields.

I am a female, can I enter the SUP Champion of Champions?

The SWC Champion of Champions is open to all competitors.  If you are a female you race in your normal division.   Merit points are calculated based on where you finish in your division. The higher you place and the more competitors there are in your division, the more points you will be awarded. For some events such as the SUP-X there is only an Open – Unlimited class. You will be awarded merit points on your ranking for this event across all the competitors.

I am a Masters age division competitor, can I enter the SWC SUP Champion of Champions?

The SWC SUP Champion of Champions is open to all competitors.  If you qualify for the Masters age division, you race in your normal division.   Merit points are calculated based on where you finish in your division. The higher you place and the more competitors there are in your division, the more points you will be awarded. For some events such as the SUP-X there is only an Open – Unlimited class. You will be awarded merit points on your ranking for this event across all the competitors.

I am a Masters age division competitor but also want to enter the Open division events. Can I do that?

Yes, you can enter as many age division events as you qualify for. So for a Kapuna (Over 50) age division entrant you can also enter the Master and open divisions. You will however only be awarded one set of SWC Champion of Champions merit points for the for each race you enter irrespective of how many age group divisions you nominated for.

I am a Junior so can I enter the SWC SUP Champion of Champions?

The SWC SUP Champion of Champions is open to all competitors.  If you are a Junior, you race in your normal division.   Merit points are calculated based on where you finish in your Junior division event. The higher you place and the more competitors there are in your division, the more points you will be awarded. For some events such as the Downwind and SUP-X where there are no Junior age divisions, you will need to nominate for the Open division event. You will be awarded merit points on your ranking for this event across all the competitors.
